Wangfujing- Shopping strip

Author: My mom wanted to visit this shopping strip in Beijing (Wangfujing) with the thoughts that it was still the same old shopping strip as before. She said this used to look very traditional..with small shops like there in Yu Yuan Shanghai but alas commercialization took the best of the yester-years.
We passed by the exotic food section which I dared my small siblings to try (yet no one brave enough to swallow gross looking insects/bugs).
I was dwarfed by the huge buildings that surrounded me. I vaguely recall this much shopping centres last time I went here (which mainly because it was still pre Olympics 2008). I still miss Singapore malls though where I prefer the brands better. Chinese fashion is very peculiar for me. Not that it’s not fashionable, but sometimes it looks too extravagant for every day use…maybe I’m a laid back dresser.
Don’t forget to try out the Golden Jaguar Buffet when you visit this shopping strip. It’s in the mall nearby the reverse bungee jump which I remember.

hmmm i personally haven’t stayed to any hotel near wangfujing though i saw a lot, you should check out reviews at agoda.com, some would have pretty nice ambiance but sucky service, weigh your options
i stayed at a service apartment the last time i went there, more practical for me since we were 8 all in all

I would definitely visit Wangfujing – but will stay miles away from the shops selling creepy insects and bugs…eeek! Thanks for your suggestions

we went to beijing 2 month ago and took a hotel near wangfujing street
at nights shops closed at 9 pm, 3 girls talked to us in english and they said they want to learn more english language and wants to beside us to go to cafee or drink something, we accepetd and they took us to a bar near wangfujing (ktv bar) after one hour we drinked little and they want to pay money ourselfs, they closed the firstfloor door and wants we pay 2000 yuan for 5 bear in one hour??!!!!
also after we struggled too much we paid 500 yuan and they open the door , very bad night
every nights after the shops closed 2 or 3 girls together close to foreigns travelers and want to speak and learn more english language and go to a bar!!!
be carefull and don’t go with them especially at nights in wangfujing street
