Reposting my post from my other travel blog

This seems to be a picture fit for a Seoul trip but you might be surprise to find good Korean restaurants in Beijing!

We had to stop by and eat our Wudaokou Korean favorites for maybe the last time for a while…and as this topic title sounds..it is a binge!!

Those small restaurants are wonderful side trips than making your trip in Beijing full of famous Peking duck dinners. I loved our exploration to the Korean town again. My favorite Higeoyagi is still open! and serving our favorite Salmon Pasta! We had our closure at last…

P1130284 I can eat this big bowl by myself..good Lord!

If you live around the area, be sure to get their menu to go, you must “tabao” or make them deliver those goodies to you!

We also ate at the local favorite of BLCU koreans (Salangbang). You just have to order the sizzling corn. One order is not enough!

Along Wangjuanglu, we spotted our old favorite Kimchi rice place which we normally called but is named (see picture below)

We ordered some pork belly roasted to perfection and that Korean bbq place warmed us up for a quick trip along memory lane.

I wasn’t able to find my favorite milktea stall along Huaqingjiayuan area, but got to try the new one beside a corner bakery.

My fingers look so pale! The warm milktea made me feel much better walking along a dreaded cool autumn season.

Quick Tip: Better grab some The Beijinger or Cityweekend magazine around notable restaurants so you can just point the Chinese version of the address to the taxi driver.

This took me soooo long to find!

baxi ice cream

I was trying to google BAXI Ice cream but I couldn’t find a decent anything about my favorite ice cream in China. At long last, I was able to scavenge through my collection of Beijing pictures one mouth watering picture of Baxi.

Baxi Ice Cream is a local brand of ice cream which has variety of flavors but the one flavor which is our favorite is Blueberry.

PostHeaderIcon Mare Beijing

It’s actually only in Beijing do we indulge ourselves with these kinds of treats because normally, back in Manila, this would cost a fortune (not to mention fewer choices and lack of quality).

Being one of the voted Best dining experience if I recall correctly, Mare had proved to us how deserving it is in the best-list. For one, the dining experience was superb, notably the surrounding will make it “fine dining”. With silverwares to match, you would feel elegant dining here.

Mare
offers a Spanish dining experience. They have lunch sets (which is a good choice for us since we were still on a budget, plus it’s value for money!) that offer an appetizer and main course or main course and dessert for about 40-50rmb.

I would always order the one with appetizer and main course because the dessert I like wasn’t in the choice of desserts for the set. The best order I had was the Seafood Risotto ! You could also order the Seabass or Lamb which are also good. Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Korean BBQ- my top 5

One of my favorite restaurants are Korean BBQ places. I can’t resist the rice, sauce, BBQ altogether. That’s why I didn’t wonder why I got fat all the while. The hot coal grill is also a warm retreat versus the nasty cold during winter.

Typically, you need to choose different variety of raw meat (from lamb, karubi beef, harami beef, pork, chicken, squid, ribs). They serve appetizers first (actually a lot, I usually get a bit full with appetizers). If you love kimchi, you will love to eat in Korean restaurants. I get flushed out whenever I eat here, because of SPICY food and the hot coal grill.

PostHeaderIcon Top 5 Karaoke place in Beijing

Sing your heart away..in Chinese, English, Korean, Thai, and some even in Tagalog! My friends and I usually hang out in Lion King KTV which is near our place in Wudaokou. It has selection of English music sort of updated but you can still endure. The lighting inside the room is a bit dark and the room can be really warm especially when you invite all your friends and get all crazy drunk.

You can’t bring your own booze or drinks or else you’ll pay for the corkage fee. We love hanging out in this KTV during cold boring nights and letting our inner “popstar” shine through among our circle of shameless friends.

Here are some other KTV place you can try out according to Cityweekend, the TOP 5!

1. Cashbox Party World — Their Chaowai location has 130 rooms while their Shouti location has nearly 100. All patrons are rewarded with a free buffet that includes all three meals of the day. Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto! Open 24 hours. Â¥39-365 per hour. Tel: 6588-3333 (Chaowai) or 8857-6588 (Shouti). <a href=Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Crystal Jade Restaurant (beijing)

A room that is fit for a king/queen…

That’s what Crystal Jade offered us for no additional charge since it was the only room that can fit us (we were 15-16 i think). So we enjoyed the luxurious room without boring a hole in our thin pockets!
The service is close to perfect since we were assigned a server who generously given us much attention. The serving of the food is rather small though the price is steep. The restaurant prides itself for the first class Cantonese cuisine. If I want to show off one of the best restaurant to foreign friends, I would probably bring them here.

PostHeaderIcon Alameda Beijing

Alameda, Alameda, Alameda…I dream of Alameda, where I can dine leisurely during lunch hours (because they offer lunch sets priced at around 60rmb, perfect for students like us!).

This restaurant is one of the best I tried, it never fails to satisfy me. Voted as “restaurant of the year” and “best business lunch”, this Brazilian fine dining restaurant has quality service coupled with quality food!

Their menus change daily (not all though) and there are also exciting choices for vegetarians too!

Here’s a sample of their menu!

I love their mashed potatoes and pork fillet with honey and grain mustard! Plus their escalope mignon is must try…so moist and tender..yummm!
