Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU)
Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) is where I studied for technically 5 months for an intensive Mandarin course. I had my classes at Run Run shaw building. BLCU has a variety of students from all over the globe, most of my classmates came from Korea, some from Italy, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan and of course, Philippines.
BLCU has a spacious campus with amble greeneries to mentally relax a tired mind. Although it seems that the guards are not strict enough, our teachers say that the guards know who seems suspicious. There was no ID system where they check when you get in, but we have our student ID.

Inside the campus, there are several dormitory. My friends stayed in dorm 4 and dorm 17. Dorm 4 is near Runrun shaw Building and if you stay there, it’s easier not to be late (yeah right!?!). Dorm 17 is said to be have nicer rooms because it’s the newest building but located far off (outside BLCU west gate). Although I saw new dormitories under construction, will probably finish before the year ends. You can opt to stay outside schools, there are cheap places in Wangchuang lu area and expensive ones in Hua Qing Jia Yuan condominiums but usually you need to stay for a minimum of 1 year.
The campus has also a big library, a hotel, 2 canteens inside campus, badminton/ tennis courts, basketball courts, gym and swimming facilities.

Since my level is only B+ class. My intensive course has 3 lessons. One for Kou yu (å£ è¯ï¼‰which improves speech,Ting Li (å¬åŠ›) which improves understanding through listening, Zong He (综åˆ) which improves your vocabulary. There are also courses you can take like Chinese Business if you reach C class and other courses like caligraphy for the ones interested but you need to pay additional though.
My teachers were particularly pleased with Western students for whatever reasons. I have no qualms anyway since I wasn’t particularly diligent myself. I still have my old books with me back home and sometimes I would review.
I miss autumn days in school, the campus seems so peaceful…leaves falling with soft wind blowing. I think autumn is the best time to study!

i only did a 4-hours a day..from 8am-12nn so it was easier..the 6 hours i heard was not that hectic, it depends on the teacher i guess

sorry.. hindi ko binasa na galing ka rin pala sa pinas…:-)
i studied for 5 months , it’s actually a good course if u do take it seriously, the problem is a lot of students there study for fun, so u may be influenced
i think if u want hardcore, try Beida, i heard they have a good program for studying mandarin..u should be mixing with locals there
Please could I contact with you by e-mail. I am very interested in to ask questions about Bulc programs and your experience? I would love to learn mandarin and therefore I am looking program in China universities:)
The campus is really shity! there are like stray cats with fleas wandering around.
The dorms have bed bugs, and when I was there lice was going around.
